Our close collaboration with several research groups within the Research Center Borstel facilitates the design, organisation and conduction of biomolecular projects on clinical samples and human biomaterials. The spectrum of study participants we can recruit for clinical research spans from healthy subjects to ambulatory patients to inpatients including critically ill patients on the intensive care unit of the “Medizinische Klinik”. Since the hospital offers a broad range of diagnostic procedures we are able to obtain samples of nearly all biomaterials from patients, ranging from blood, urine and sputum to endoscopically gained material (bronchoalveolar lavage, transbronchial lung biopsies, intestinal mucosa) to bone marrow, cerebrospinal fluid, skin, lymph node tissue, and others.

Our service includes feasibility analyses for project ideas, conceptual work on study design and protocol, and all correspondence with the Ethics Committee. Data capture can be paper based, electronically, or online.
